Varun Tej is going through a mess in his career as his last few films ended as massive flops at the box office. So, he has taken a break and started a film titled Matka in the direction of Karuna Kumar who has last made Palasa, the sleeping hit in Telugu cinema.

Varun Tej Matka release date locked

The shooting of the film is happening at a brisk pace and the climax of Matka is being shot as of now. Touted to be a period gangster drama, the makers have locked the release date of the film. As per the latest update, the new release date of Matka is November 14, 2024, and the same was conveyed through a poster.

Matka is about gambling and Varun Tej will be seen as a gambler in the film. A lot of money has been spent on this period drama which has Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead. Varun Tej will be seen in two distinct looks in this film which has been in the making for the last year and a half.

The makers of Hi Nanna - Mohan Cherukuri and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala of Vyra Entertainments - are bankrolling the big-budget saga. The team is currently working on the post-production formalities. Matka, for the unversed, is based on true incidents while the story is set against a Vizag backdrop.

Varun Tej is known to select content-rich films but somehow, the films he has selected have not done well in the past. So, he has chosen a mass drama based on gambling. He will start promoting the film very soon. As of now, he is shooting for an action-packed climax in Ramoji Film City. This will be the most expensive film in the career of Varun Tej. Month of Madhu star Naveen Chandra, and Aadukalam Kishore essay pivotal roles as well in Matka.
