Baby John has officially premiered on Prime Video following its rental availability. This film, featuring Varun Dhawan in the lead role, is one of the final releases of 2024. Directed by Kalees, Baby John is an adaptation of Atlee's 2016 Tamil film Theri. Keerthy Suresh makes her debut in Hindi cinema with this project, which also includes performances by Wamiqa Gabbi, Zara Zyanna, and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles.

Overview and Cast of Baby John  

In Baby John, a sex-trafficking organization disrupts the peaceful existence of John and his daughter Khushi in Kerala. The protagonist, who previously served as Deputy Commissioner Satya, takes it upon himself to rescue young girls, deliver justice to wrongdoers, and seek revenge for the murder of his family. Following a tragic event, he embarks on a journey to rebuild his life.

Theatrical release and box office performance

On Christmas Eve, 2024, the film Baby John premiered in theatres, receiving a mix of unfavourable reviews and experiencing a significant financial setback.

The cinematography was handled by Kiran Koushik, while Ruben took charge of the editing. The musical score for the film was composed by Thaman S.

Character adaptations from Theri

In the Hindi remake, Keerthy took on the role originally portrayed by Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Theri. Wamiqa Gabbi assumed the character previously played by Amy Jackson. Jackie Shroff portrayed the main antagonist, a role that was originally held by the late Mahendran in Baby John.

Sheeba Chaddha and Rajpal Yadav stepped into the roles that were once played by Radhika Sarathkumar and Rajendran, respectively. Additionally, Sanya Malhotra made a cameo appearance as one of Varun Dhawan's potential brides, a role that was previously associated with Sunaina. Before the collaboration between Salman Khan and Atlee on a film, the superstar made a special appearance during the climax.

Box office collection

The expected earnings for Baby John's opening day at the domestic box office were projected to range from Rs. 11.25 crore to Rs. 13.5 crore nett. By the first week of January 2025, the film had achieved a total worldwide gross of Rs. 53.4 crore, with Rs. 39.74 crore generated in India and Rs. 13.66 crore from international markets. It was anticipated that the film's total global gross would fall between Rs. 56.49 crore and Rs. 59 crore by the conclusion of its theatrical run.
