Varun Dhawan's upcoming film, Baby John, is among the most highly anticipated releases of 2024. Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, the film has attracted significant attention since its announcement. Notably, Baby John marks the Hindi film industry debut of Keerthy Suresh. The cast also features Wamiqa Gabbi and Jackie Shroff in prominent roles. In preparation for its release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has mandated the censorship of certain dialogues and three violent scenes.
CBFC suggests changes in Baby John
According to Bollywood Hungama, Baby John has already been granted a U/A certificate. However, the CBFC has requested specific alterations. The length of the opening disclaimer has been extended, and the filmmakers were instructed to include a statement clarifying that "The title of the film, Baby John, bears no connection or resemblance to any political figure or entity." Additionally, a voiceover and text were incorporated to indicate that child actors adhered to established guidelines. A consent form was also submitted to the CBFC.
Two dialogues have been censored; one instance involved muting the term 'Phule' in reference to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, while another dialogue mentioning Lal Bahadur Shastri has been replaced with an unspecified term.
Furthermore, the CBFC requested four visual modifications. The scene depicting a character kicking a 'kalash' (pot) was altered, and visuals of characters engulfed in flames were reduced by 50%. Additionally, the depiction of a character flicking a cigarette butt into another character's mouth was modified, and a close-up shot of a gunshot was also changed.
Baby John runtime
The film's runtime, as indicated on the censor certificate, is 164.01 minutes, equating to 2 hours, 44 minutes, and 1 second.
