He explained that although Varun would look great as a cop in the intense scenes, he didn’t quite match the vibe of the film's earlier acts.

Chopra was worried that Varun might have a tough time genuinely capturing the deep vulnerability needed for Manoj’s story in Chambal and Mukherjee Nagar, where he’s gearing up for the UPSC exam. Because of this, the team decided to drop the idea of casting Dhawan and instead brought in Vikrant Massey, which turned out to be a fantastic choice.
