Vaazhai, the recently released Tamil film written and directed by filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, is now available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The film, which released in theatres in August, opened to positive reception upon release.

Vaazhai is helmed by filmmaker Mari Selvaraj. The film debuted in theatres on August 23 and opened to positive response and box office success. If you have missed the film in theatres or want to revisit the film, it is available on Disney+ Hotstar. The Tamil film will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi.
The film is presented by the banners Disney+ Hotstar, Navvi Studios, and Farmer’s Master Plan Production, with Red Giant Movies releasing it. The cast includes actors Ponvel M, Raghul R, Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, Janaki, and others. Based on the real events that took place in Mari Selvaraj’s childhood, the film is about two boys and their families who work in banana plantations as labourers.
Vaazhai received good reviews upon its release, with many critics praising Mari Selvaraj’s writing and lead cast performance. With no major star names to headline the film, Vaazhai also managed to become commercially successful.
Mari Selvaraj’s next is Bison
Filmmaker Mari Selvaraj is currently working with Dhruv Vikram for a film titled Bison-Kalamadan. Bison will be a sports drama based on kabaddi. The film is currently under production and also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Azhagam Perumal, Hari Krishnan, and others in supporting roles.
Nivas K Prasanna is composing the songs and original score. Ezhil Arasu K is the director of photography. Sakthi Thiru handles the editing. Bison is bankrolled by Pa Ranjith’s home banner Neelam Productions, in association with Applause Entertainment. A release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
