The makers of the latest Tamil film, Vaazhai, confirmed that it would have a theatrical release in Kerala on August 30. The Mari Selvaraj directorial, which hit the big screens in Tamil Nadu on August 23, has been running successfully at the box office. The movie, which has already grossed over 11 crore in its first week, will be distributed by Dream Big Films in all the major centres in Kerala.

The film is anticipated to receive positive reviews from viewers here, much as it did in Tamil Nadu, because of its engaging story and the cast's outstanding performances. Vaazhai stands tall in Mari Selvaraj's works and is certainly one of the top Tamil films of 2024, according to OTTplay's review. Word-of-mouth publicity has benefited the movie. 

All about Vaazhai

Both reviewers and audience gave the movie, which is based on actual events in the director's life, favourable feedback. The characters of Vaazhai are labourers on a banana plantation. It centres on two teenage boys who work with their family on the weekends and go to school during the week. The lives of the young boys are gradually revealed in the film, as they are torn between their innocence and difficulties brought on by their arduous job.

Dhivya and Kalaiyarasan portray plantation workers, and Nikhila Vimal plays a school teacher named Poongodi. Janaki, J Sathish Kumar, Ponvel M, Raghul R, and others make up the supporting cast. The director has written the screenplay himself. Santhosh Narayanan composed the movie's soundtracks. 

Vaazhai to stream on Disney+ Hotstar

Disney+ Hotstar is assumed to hold the post-theatrical streaming rights for Vaazhai since the film is promoted under the banners of Navvi Studios, Disney+ Hotstar, and Farmer's Master Plan Production. Vaazhai's release on the platform will take some time due to its successful theatrical run. On the other hand, a digital release for the film is expected by movie buffs by the end of September or early October.
