Vaazhai OTT release date: Mari Selvaraj’s critically acclaimed film to stream here very soon

Vaazhai, the recently released Tamil film written and directed by filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, opened to positive reviews upon its release and is still running in several theatres. Now, as per latest reports, the film is soon to make its OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar.

Director Mari Selvaraja who has given hard hitting films like Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan and Maamannan, once again delivered a powerful tale through the recently released film Vaazhai. The film released in theatres on August 23 and is now, all set to make its OTT debut very soon. While we have already reported that Disney+ Hotstar has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, the latest suggest that Vaazhai will be available from September 27 onwards. However, an official confirmation of the date is yet to be made by the streamer.

Vaazhai is presented by the banners Disney+ Hotstar, Navvi Studios, and Farmer’s Master Plan Production, with Red Giant Movies releasing it. The film is based on the true events that occurred in Mari Selvaraj’s childhood when he occurred in banana plantation fields as labourer along with his family. The cast comprises of Ponvel M, Raghul R, Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, Janaki, and others.

Vaazhai opened to positive reviews upon its release, with many praising the cast’s performance and Mari Selvaraj’s writing. The OTTplay review of the film reads, “Vaazhai is a delightful deviation that Mari Selvaraj took after making his previous films. Vaazhai brims with innocence and has a childlike quality of coming in terms with pain.” The technical crew consists of cinematographer Theni Eswar and editor Suriya Pradhaman. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music for the film.


Speaking to OTTplay about making the film, Mari Selvaraj said that Vaazhai took a mental toll on him, and is a film that expresses both his most painful tear and happiest day of his life.
