On his birthday on July 12, Century Star Shivarajkumar will, no doubt, have a plethora of new film announcements. This time around, though, instead of cramming it all in on his big day, some film teams took the smart way out and began making announcements in the run-up to the celebration. This included new commitments, as well as updates from films that were announced earlier on. Like, for instance, director Hemanth M Rao, who was among the first and kicked off the Shivanna mania with the title reveal, Bhairavana Kone PaaTa, followed by the first look, which took the internet by storm.

It is now the turn of the makers of the gangster flick Uttarakaanda who have revealed how the Hattrick Hero is being presented. Produced by KRG Studios and directed by Rohit Padaki, Uttarakaanda was their second collaboration and third for the banner with actor Dhananjaya. While initial news about the gangster flick was about it being a Dhananjaya-led film, around the time of the muhurtha there were rumours that Ramya and Shivarajkumar would also be a part of the film in pivotal roles.

Shivanna with Bhavana again

Ramya was even at the muhurtha, but then excused herself from the project earlier this year when the team eventually went on floors. There were a flurry of first-look reveals, including of Chaithra J Achar, Vijay Babu, Diganth, Umashree, Rangayana Raghu, Yogaraj Bhat, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Aishwarya Rajesh and Bhavana among others, with the notable exception being Shivarajkumar. “They will reveal it for his birthday”, was the commonly seen comment on social media, and they were not wrong. Earlier today, the team of Uttarakaanda dropped a poster of Shivarajkumar as Maalika. He will be paired with Bhavana in the film.

Uttarakaanda, meanwhile, is a two-part film about the gangs of north Karnataka. The team has been tight-lipped about what to expect, but gave viewers an inkling with the teaser for Dhananjaya’s character Gabru Satya – violence with a dash of humour.
