When Real Star Upendra’s UI hit theaters on December 20, the title card didn’t mention any TV or streaming partners. But soon after, rumors started swirling that the film's satellite and digital rights had been sold, with one network reportedly claiming both. There was even talk of a possible streaming date at the end of January 2025.

However, KP Sreekanth, the producer of UI, is urging people not to believe these rumors. He took to social media to clarify that the reports about Sun NXT acquiring the digital rights are incorrect. He promised that the team would make an official announcement about the OTT rights when the time is right.

Zee has the UI satellite rights, while the digital rights are with Amazon Prime Video

The post had the Zee Kannada and Zee Studios logos, which suggests that Zee Network probably holds the satellite rights. It's still unclear if they also have the streaming rights, but a source mentioned that they've mainly been picking up TV rights lately, like with Bhairathi Ranagal.

People thought Zee5 would be the home for the Shivarajkumar film, but in the end, Amazon Prime snagged the OTT rights. Zee5 had previously secured both TV and digital streaming rights for Shivarajkumar’s earlier project, Vedhaa.

Lately, Amazon Prime Video has been the go-to platform for Kannada films. However, it seems like the era of outright purchases is fading, with options now limited to pay-per-view or rentals.

UI is reportedly wrapping up its time in theaters since the big Telugu and Tamil films for Sankranti are set to hit the screens soon. While the team has been tight-lipped about the film's final budget, estimates suggest it's around Rs 100 crore. Trade analysts have pegged its box office earnings at about Rs 40 to Rs 45 crore net, but the team insists that the film is a success.
