Upendra on UI: Nearly 90% of the film was filmed at night but transformed into daytime.
In an interview with News18, Upendra elaborated on the challenges faced during the production. "Typically, a sequence is filmed during the day and later transformed into a night scene through visual effects colour grading. However, for UI, the process was reversed. We constructed a unique set and developed a new environment for UI, but the footage captured in broad daylight did not meet our expectations," he stated.
Regarding UI, Upendra noted that while the fundamental storyline will be clear to all, the interpretation of its deeper layers will vary for each viewer.
He subsequently consulted with the film's producer and the VFX team to explore potential solutions to this issue. Upendra proposed the idea of filming at night, allowing for better control over the lighting conditions on set. "I inquired whether we could alter the entire ambience post-shoot, and they confirmed that it was feasible. Consequently, we opted to proceed with this approach and filmed approximately 80-90% of the movie at night," he explained.
The conversion from night to day contributed significantly to the 14,000 VFX shots incorporated in the film, which also extended the production timeline. The film is poised for a substantial opening, having already sold over 220,000 tickets on its first day in Karnataka. Upendra has been quite discreet about disclosing any details regarding the film ahead of its release.
UI release: Here’s what Real Star Upendra is eagerly anticipating.
The official synopsis indicates that the film, with a runtime of 2 hours and 12 minutes, centres on a King and a remarkably astute individual. The latter employs his cleverness to seize control of the town and establish himself as a dictator.
