Upendra Comments on UI vs Max Rivalry: 'Two Excellent Kannada Films Debuting...'

The phenomenon of major films competing at the box office is not unprecedented. However, when Real Star Upendra's film UI was initially scheduled for release on December 20, it was widely believed that he would be afforded a clear release window among other Kannada films. Upendra and his team had previously allowed other productions to occupy dates they had considered, deliberately avoiding any direct competition.

Max release date: Kiccha Sudeep prepares for yet another box office confrontation; this time with Upendra’s UI.

Unexpectedly, news emerged that Kiccha Sudeep’s Max would debut in theatres just five days after UI. Although the film had already experienced delays, the producer, Kalaippuli S Thanu, chose December 25 as the release date for reasons known only to him. This raises the question of Upendra's perspective on this impending clash.

There is a precedent for two major films being released simultaneously and achieving success. Recently, Bheema and Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi were launched in close proximity and both received positive responses. Upendra emphasized that there is no rivalry between UI and Max, and such negativity is unwarranted. He noted that Sudeep’s film is set to release five days later, and he kindly urged audiences to appreciate both films.

Regarding UI, Upendra stated, "I created this film to provoke thought among viewers." He further explained that discussions about a potential clash have arisen due to the selected release dates, with some speculating that the timing was intentional. "In reality, if these films had not been released this year, the same individuals would have claimed that the teams were afraid of a confrontation. I believe this should be viewed as a positive occurrence—two quality Kannada films are debuting in theatres; I encourage everyone to watch both," Upendra concluded.

Ultimately, the key factor is the audience's reception of your film. If viewers appreciate it, they will contribute to its organic growth. Conversely, if the film fails to resonate with them, the availability of 1,000 screens becomes irrelevant, as articulated by the Real Star, who has been actively promoting his forthcoming film while maintaining confidentiality regarding its content.
