It is now widely recognized and even somewhat celebrated that Marco stands as the most intense action thriller in Malayalam cinema. However, beyond its graphic violence, the film emphasizes themes of brotherhood and the importance of family, as articulated by its lead actor, Unni Mukundan. With the release of Marco on Sony Liv scheduled for February 14, 2025, Mukundan expresses his enthusiasm for the family audience to engage with this Malayalam action thriller on the OTT platform.

Directed by Haneef Adeni, this action-driven film chronicles Marco's quest for vengeance following the murder of a loved one. Unni Mukundan, who portrays the protagonist, asserts that he perceives the film not only as an action spectacle but also as a family-oriented narrative.

"Although we have presented Marco as a prominent action film, I fundamentally regard it as a family story. Regardless of the violence depicted, Marco's actions are motivated by his love for his family. It is an action revenge drama. We all have familial bonds, and I believe that when our loved ones face adversity, we instinctively seek to respond," Unni Mukundan elaborated.

Unni Mukundan portrays Marco, the adopted brother of George, who places family above all else and is willing to go to great lengths to ensure their safety and happiness. In the trailer released by Sony Liv, a child remarks that Marco is the only individual who would take action if anything were to happen to their family.

Emphasizing this theme, Unni Mukundan states, “In every sense, Marco is an A-certified film, but I have always perceived it as a narrative filled with deep emotions. As it transitions to a digital platform, I am eager to observe how family audiences will respond to this film on OTT. The majority of viewers in theatres were young people. With the upcoming premiere on SonyLiv, I anticipate a broader audience engaging with the film. We shall see,” he concluded.

Marco premiered in theatres on December 20, 2024, and quickly became a standout among the Christmas releases in Kerala. The action-filled film transcended language barriers, garnering praise from audiences beyond the Malayalam-speaking demographic. 

Viewers can stream Marco on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium starting February 14, 2025, available in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu.
