What does 'pada' culture mean, especially in the context of Kolkata?

Every state has its unique ‘pada’ culture, but Kolkata stands out from the rest. Neeraj Pandey shared with Mid-Day that ‘pada’ culture is essentially a community club system that has evolved from hosting blood donation drives to acting as the state government's grassroots supporters.

The filmmaker shares that although The Bihar Chapter was based on real events, The Bengal Chapter leans more towards fiction. He mentioned that they drew on various reference points for the series. For those who don’t know, Pandey spent a significant part of his childhood in Kolkata, which served as inspiration for Khakee season 2.

Is Neeraj Pandey set to dive into more Indian states with Khakee?

If there is one thing that Naam Shabana scriptwriter (the movie can be streamed on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium) was sure of, it was that Khakee's story will not be limited to Bihar. He wanted to expand it to various Indian states from the word go and the filmmaker is finally ready to do so with Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. Pandey had spoken about it when launching The Bihar Chapter itself. Now, he is ready with the second season of the show and is likely already planning the third season (or might announce it with The Bengal Chapter itself).
