Prime Video has unveiled the intriguing trailer for its upcoming original series, Dupahiya. Directed by Sonam Nair and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg, the series is produced by Bombay Film Cartel, led by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani. Dupahiya is a delightful comedy-drama that seamlessly weaves humour and drama against the vibrant backdrop of the fictional village of Dhadakpur. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma, the series promises a hilarious, chaotic, and engaging storyline. Dupahiya will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on March 7, 2025.

Plot: A Village in Turmoil

Set in the picturesque village of Dhadakpur—fondly dubbed the "Belgium of Bihar"—the story unfolds just days before the community is set to celebrate 25 years without crime. However, the festive spirit is disrupted when a motorbike, gifted for an upcoming wedding, mysteriously vanishes just a week before the big day. As chaos ensues, the villagers embark on a comical and heartfelt journey to recover the Dupahiya, with the fate of the wedding hanging in the balance.

Banwari Jha serves as the father of the bride in Dupahiya, and Rao expresses his delight in participating in the production. The actor derives great pleasure from embodying this role, that of a math teacher who prioritizes his daughter's happiness over logic. The narrative skillfully intertwines comedic and emotional elements to illustrate the quirks, chaos, and charm of life in a small town. He anticipates that audiences will accompany him on this entertaining and whimsical adventure when Dupahiya makes its debut.

Shahane, portraying Pushplata, the village sarpanch, noted that this role is markedly different from her previous performances. Taking on the lovable yet obstinate sarpanch of Dhadakpur has allowed her to explore and refine her acting abilities.
