About Twisters
Taking cues from the 1996 film of the same name, Twisters is set in Oklahoma, where storms and tornadoes are as destructive as Thanos, threatening to obliterate everything in their path. Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a brilliant mind, is determined to stop the destruction and save her hometown after losing three friends while working on a solution for her school project. Half a decade later, another friend who survived, Javi (Anthony Ramos), brings her back and sets her up on the mission once again, this time with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a Tornado Wrangler/Influencer. Together, they stand against a deadly tornado that could destroy the entire town.
Glen Powell on the Best Action Sequence
There’s one specific action sequence in Twisters that Glen Powell believes is among the most incredible action pieces ever. “There’s a sequence in the movie that I think is going to be one of the most incredible action sequences of all time,” Powell said, according to IndieWire. “It all happens in one continuous shot, and we filmed that in December with a rain machine. One of the coldest nights I’ve ever experienced, getting dragged across a pool by a wire.”
To give you an idea, Lee Isaac Chung did not want to use CGI to depict people getting sucked into the tornado. He aimed for a realistic portrayal and had the actors perform the stunts to achieve that effect. “This was maybe the most physical thing I’ve ever done. You’re talking about humans getting sucked up into a tornado, but you’re recreating what it’s like to be hit by debris and all that stuff. You’re watching real stuntmen getting pulled into the sky, trucks moving across the ground, and you’re jumping into a pool and getting dragged. It’s a fully physical experience,” Glen Powell said.
