Tumbbad 2 script is nothing like Stree 2 or Munjya, Sohum Shah confirms and analyses what's different

Tumbbad has re-released in theatres and is receiving immense love during a time when Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2 is looking at becoming the highest grossing film in Bollywood. With Tumbbad's re-release, lead actor Sohum Shah left his fans more excited by announcing Tumbbad 2 as well. The script of the film is in place (being finalized), and Sohum has shared that it will share no resemblance with the Maddock Universe films like Stree 2 or Munjya. While analysing both the worlds, Sohum spoke about how Tumbbad 2 is different. Here's what he said...
'Tumbbad 2 not based in modern times'
Sohum Shah spoke about Tumbbad being a traditional folklore rather than being based in modern times. India Today asked the actor whether the reception to Maddock Supernatural Universe made it easier to bring Tumbbad sequel, Tumbbad 2, to which the actor pointed out that the universe is not focused on 'dadi-nani ki kahaniyaan.' It is to be noted that Stree, Stree 2 as well as Munjya are set in a relatively newer timeframe and are not ancient history. They are stories taken from real-life villages (and even towns) existing in India.
What was Tumbbad all about? Looking back at all the troubles it faced
Tumbbad is a Maharashtrian folklore and was filmed in the state as well. Tumbbad 2 will also trace a folklore, Sohum confirmed.
Tumbbad, Sohum recalled, required certain weather to be shot. Thus, it faced major delays (of years) and almost got shelved too. Then, Sohum and Aanand L. Rai took over as producers and could finally release the film in theatres. Unfortunately, back in 2018, the Rahi Anil Barve-directed movie did not receive its due. Nonetheless, people realized its worth after watching it on OTT and are now in theatres upon Tumbbad re-release, giving the film another opportunity.
Stree 2 and Tumbbad's Box Office clash
Back in 2018, Raj and DK took a story inspired by a village in India. It is about a female ghost who haunts lone men at night. She drags the men out and strips them off their clothes. Very few men can return from her den. The story continued with Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya, and before we knew it, they all became a part of the Maddock Supernatural Universe. Their most recent offering, Stree 2, has also received a lot of love and is out to become the highest grossing film. In this time, Sohum Shah's Tumbbad also re-released in theatres. The film has also been widely appreciated on its re-release, much more than what was in 2018. Back then, Tumbbad was declared a flop, but over the years, the movie found a fan following. Thus, now, Tumbbad is almost about to be a hit at the Box Office, surpassing the original Box Office numbers, too. Currently, they're both in a league of their own at the Box Office.
