As anticipated, following the character reveal video of Manju Warrier’s Priyadarsini Ramdas from L2: Empuraan, the producers unveiled the next character on Tuesday – Tovino Thomas’ Jathin Ramdas, who will portray the role of the Chief Minister of Kerala in the second installment of Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial work.

For Tovino, this forthcoming film, scheduled for release on March 27, also presents the opportunity to share the screen with Mohanlal. “In Lucifer, I did not have any scenes with Mohanlal, but this film includes a combination scene. After completing the dubbing, I felt that this is my finest performance in Empuraan,” remarked Tovino, who filmed scenes with Mohanlal in the United States last year.

The actor discussed the impact that his character in Lucifer had on his career, despite the limited nature of his role. "I approached the character with great curiosity, as he was a political heir disinterested in politics, who ultimately ascended to the position of chief minister by the film's conclusion," Tovino remarked. "I was eager to see how they would develop the narrative further, as his character arc continues to evolve in this installment."

Additionally, the Identity actor mentioned that his dialogue in Lucifer, which resonated with the people of Kerala, was among the most frequently requested at public events. "On one occasion, someone even asked Rajuettan to repeat it. I humorously advised him not to jeopardize my golden goose, as that line has been instrumental in my success," the actor quipped.

Three more characters to be revealed in L2: Empuraan

The team has been unveiling its main characters over the past fortnight. Among the notable reveals were unexpected names such as Jerome Flynn, known for his role in Game of Thrones, and French actor Eriq Ebouaney. It is anticipated that Mohanlal and Prithviraj will portray Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi Ab’ram, and Zayed Masood, respectively, as they are likely to be among the final three characters. The third character may potentially be played by Hollywood actor Rick Yune, recognized for his roles in The Fast and the Furious and Die Another Day.

A talent management agency based in the UK disclosed this information, along with the casting of Andrea Tivadar, who will portray MI6 officer Michele Menuhin in the film, which has been scripted by Murali Gopy.
