The state buzzes with the protests against the heinous rape and murder at the RG Kar Hospital. On the other hand, Tnusree Chakraborty will now fight women trafficking on the screen. She will play a CID officer in an upcoming web series. Saptarshi Moulik plays an important character. Ayesha Bhattacharya, Sankar Debnath, Sinjini Chakraborty, Jammy Banerjee, Jui Sarkar, and Manas Mukherjee also play important roles in the web series. The series will be released on Platform8. 

The story delves into the character Tapas Bauri — a poor daily wage worker at the Nijhumpur Rail Station, Birbhum. He has one source of joy, his daughter Marali, who mysteriously goes missing one day. Parama starts searching for the girl. The mystery increases. The web series is directed by Souvik Mondal, its name is Marali. 

Souvik previously directed the series Hostel Days. In the wake of the protests regarding the RG Kar incident, will this web series attract the audience? The director told Anandabazar, “The two incidents have no direct connection. But I wanted to tell the story of women's empowerment. I hope people will like it.”

Saptarshi plays a queer dancer in the series. The director said, “People never saw Saptarshi in such a role. I believe his acting will stun them.” Rakesh Ghosh, along with the director, wrote the screenplay. 

The shooting started in Kolkata. The outdoor shooting will take place in Bolpur and North Bengal's Lava next month.
