Thug Life is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited movies this summer. The excitement isn't just about Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam teaming up again after over thirty years; it also has a lot to do with STR, also known as Simbu, and Trisha being involved. During the single launch event in Chennai on Friday, Simbu was visibly thrilled to be part of the project and couldn't contain his feelings.

This movie feels like a dream come true for me

The 42-year-old actor, who started his career as a child in the film industry, is collaborating for the first time with Kamal Haasan and is teaming up with Mani Ratnam for the second time, following their work together on Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in 2018. At the launch of the single Jinguchaa, Simbu expressed his excitement about working with Kamal Haasan, whom he considers his onscreen mentor. He shared, “This film feels like a dream come true for me. We all admire Mani sir's films and enjoy Rahman sir's music, hoping to be part of their projects. Being able to act alongside Kamal sir, my onscreen guru, as well as Mani sir and Rahman sir in the same film is truly a huge blessing.”

Mani Ratnam is a renowned filmmaker

Simbu previously collaborated with director Mani Ratnam on Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and reflected on that experience, saying, “I've been acting since I was a kid, but I learned so much while working on Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. It was challenging for me because I have such great admiration for Mani sir. I also needed some time to get used to his way of working. I had to keep my fanboy excitement in check. Working on Thug Life alongside both Mani sir and Kamal sir was even tougher. I've grown up idolizing Kamal sir. Thug Life is going to be an exciting new venture from Mani Ratnam sir, something quite unique.”

In a fun twist, Simbu and Trisha are reuniting for a film after their iconic romance in Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa (VTV) back in 2010. “I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Trisha again after VTV, but Thug Life is a whole different ballgame.”

Thug Life is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on June 5.
