Following a period of lacklustre weeks, Malayalam cinema is poised for a resurgence in the OTT arena, with a series of releases scheduled from December 8 to December 14, 2024. Several highly acclaimed Malayalam films that premiered in theatres over the past few months are set to make their debut on OTT platforms this month, commencing this week. Notable titles include Amal Neerad’s Bougainvillea and the Manju Warrier-led Ayisha, among others.

Latest Malayalam OTT releases (December 2 to December 8, 2024)

Bougainvillea on Sony LIV

The mystery thriller Bougainvillea, directed by Amal Neerad, was released in theaters in October 2024. Starring Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi in the principal roles, with Fahadh Faasil making a notable cameo, the film is now preparing for its OTT launch on Sony LIV. It will be available for streaming in five languages—Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi—beginning December 13, 2024.

Ayisha on Manorama Max

Ayisha, a biographical film featuring Manju Warrier in the lead, initially premiered in theaters in January 2023. After several postponements for unspecified reasons, the film has finally been released on the popular OTT platform Manorama Max as of December 8, 2024. Currently, it is accessible exclusively in Malayalam through OTT Play Premium.
