
This Fahadh Faasil Movie Sparked Nani’s Obsession with Malayalam Cinema

Nani is preparing for the launch of his highly awaited Telugu film, HIT 3, scheduled for May 1, 2025. There is significant anticipation surrounding this film, as it marks the third installment in the acclaimed HIT franchise. The film will also be released in Kerala, where Nani has a substantial fan base. In a recent conversation, Nani mentioned that he took the opportunity to watch Malayalam films during the pandemic, with the Fahadh Faasil-led film Trance sparking his interest.
Nani's favourite Malayalam films
In anticipation of the highly awaited release of HIT 3, Nani participated in a promotional interview where he expressed his fondness for Malayalam cinema. Although he had previously watched both dubbed and original Malayalam films in his youth, he took the opportunity during the pandemic to explore numerous popular and critically acclaimed movies from Kerala. It was the Pan-India phenomenon Fahadh Faasil’s film Trance that inspired Nani to delve deeper into Malayalam cinema, which has been receiving widespread acclaim across the nation.

The film Trance, featuring Fahadh as the motivational speaker Viju, is now accessible for streaming on Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium. Actress Nazriya Nazim, who is also Fahadh's spouse, plays a significant role in this Malayalam film directed by Anwar Rasheed. In addition to Trance, Nani mentioned several other Malayalam films he has recently viewed, most of which include Fahadh Faasil.
He referenced FaFa’s Kumbalangi Nights, Bangalore Days, which also featured Dulquer Salmaan and his Ante Sundaraniki co-star Nazriya Nazim, as well as Aavesham. Another Malayalam film that ranks among his all-time favorites is Manjummel Boys, which has garnered acclaim from various regions across the country.

He also expressed his appreciation for Mammootty's thrilling films, Bheeshma Parvam and Kannur Squad.
Nani has been a devoted follower of Mohanlal's work, enjoying films such as Yoddha and Manichitrathazhu in his youth, up to the 2019 release of Lucifer. However, he acknowledged that he has not yet seen Empuraan, which is scheduled for OTT release on JioHotstar on April 24, 2025. Additionally, HIT 3, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, includes performances by Srinidhi Shetty, Surya Srinivas, Adil Pala Brahmaji, and Maganti Srinath, among others.
