In the 2025 Tamil film Thiru Manickam, actor and filmmaker Samuthirakani takes on the role of the main character. This family drama revolves around a devoted family man who operates a lottery ticket shop. Produced by GP Ravi Kumar, Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy, and Raja Senthil under the GPRK CINEMA banner, Thiru Manickam features Samuthirakani as the titular character, who embodies righteousness. The plot unfolds when a destitute elderly man purchases a ticket from his shop but is unable to pay at that moment. He assures the man that he can collect the ticket later. However, the ticket wins a substantial prize, prompting Manickam to search for the old man, while his family urges him to keep the winning ticket.

The cast of Thiru Manickam includes Ananya, Bharathiraja, Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Chaams, Vadivukarasi, and Ilavarasu. The film is penned and directed by Nanda Periyasamy.

Upon its release, Thiru Manickam received mixed reviews, with some critics describing the film as overly moralistic. A review from Mobile Masala states, “A preachy, and too-good-to-be-true story does not elevate this flatline family drama.”

In a conversation about the film, Samuthirakani remarked, “We may not be here in a few years, but films will continue to exist. So why not leave behind some positive thoughts? I consider it my duty to give back to those who have shown us love.”
