Jana Nayagan, the highly anticipated Tamil movie featuring Vijay as the lead, is now scheduled to hit theaters for Pongal 2026. The production team revealed the new release date on Monday. Initially, the film was set to premiere in October 2025, but the latest update confirms a delay. Fans can look forward to its worldwide release on January 9, 2026.

Actor Vijay, beloved by many and a source of entertainment for years, is set to appear in his final film, Jana Nayagan. This movie will signify his departure from the film scene as he shifts his focus to a full-time political career in Tamil Nadu.

Set to be a political action thriller, this film is both written and directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. It holds special importance as it will be Thalapathy Vijay's last film before he steps into the political arena. The cast includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and Monisha Blessy in key roles.

Originally planned for an October 2025 release, the team has now revealed a spectacular Pongal premiere on January 9, 2026. With music by Anirudh Ravichander, Jana Nayagan is creating a buzz among fans who are excited to see Vijay's political journey unfold on screen. The cinematography is handled by Sathyan Sooryan ISC, and Anl Arasu is in charge of the action sequences. This film also marks Vinoth’s first time working with Vijay.

H Vinoth kicked off his directing career with the 2014 heist film Sathuranga Vettai, and then he released Theera Adhigaaram Ondru, both of which you can watch on Jio Hotstar. He later teamed up with Ajith Kumar for a trio of films: Nerkonda Paarvai, Valimai, and Thunivu. The first film is a Tamil remake of the Hindi movie Pink, while Valimai is a crime thriller.
