As the year 2025 begins, a fresh lineup of films is set to hit theatres. Following a remarkable 2024, during which numerous Indian films surpassed the ₹1000 crore mark, several major releases are also scheduled for 2025. The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has unveiled its list of the most eagerly awaited Indian films for the year, with a Salman Khan film notably securing the leading position.

Salman Khan's film Sikandar has achieved the top position on IMDb's list of the most anticipated Indian films for 2025. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie features a talented cast that includes Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi. With a reported budget of ₹400 crore, this action-packed entertainer signifies Murugadoss' return to Hindi cinema after a 17-year hiatus, his last Bollywood project being Ghajini in 2008. The release of Sikandar is scheduled for March.

Sikandar has surpassed numerous prominent figures from both Bollywood and the South Indian film industry in the rankings. The Kannada actor Yash's latest project, Toxic, which marks his first release since the KGF series, occupies the second position. This is followed by the inaugural collaboration between Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj, titled Coolie. The ensemble comedy Housefull 5, featuring Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 4 complete the top five. Additional films that feature in the top ten include The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, War 2 with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the sequel to Mammootty's Lucifer, L2: Empuraan, Shahid Kapoor's Deva, and Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal.

How IMDb made the list

On Tuesday, the Internet Movie Database shared a list on their social media platforms, explaining the methodology behind the rankings. The caption stated, "Among the Indian films scheduled for release in 2025, these titles emerged as the most favoured by IMDb users, based on the actual page views from over 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb globally."
