Every person who has ever been in love, knows that there always comes a time of waiting. It is when nothing feels right and the relationship stays alive on one feeling - hope. It is this very feeling that beautifully ends the recently released series, The Trunk. The K-Drama featuring Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin, ends with their incomplete love story, but that is the beauty of its ending. Here's what exactly happened...

Jeong-won meets In-ji again

The very last scene of The Trunk was just as all of us hoped - the lovers Jeong-won (Gong Yoo) and In-ji (Seo Hyun-jin), who parted ways because the time didn't feel right, met again. They promised to meet up twice so that they can continue their relationship. In short, they wanted destiny to play its magic and help them meet time-and-again. This time was magical, but can it repeat?

An open-ending for viewers, hinting at The Trunk season 2

In-ji had promised that they could get married despite their traumatic past if destiny wished for it. The viewers, who wished for Jeong-won to forget about his ex and mother's wounds and for In-ji to feel normal again after her stalker bodyguard Tae-seong (Kim Dong-won) died, were elated to see Jeong-won and In-ji meet again. But that was just one meeting since their separation.

Even before we could understand if the lovers met again, the series ended. With this open-ending, the makers have also kept the possibility of The Trunk season 2 open. Afterall, if Jeong-won and In-ji did meet a second time, we have a lot more to explore. For now, it is up to each person's imagination.

Jeong-won and In-ji's compatibility hinted at

Both Jeong-won and In-ji felt lonely after being separated (even if by choice). Thus, he adopted many cats for company. Meanwhile, she was growing up with one pet doggo. The makers had already hinted at their different personalities since they met. Despite being different people, they stood by each other through every decision, good or bad.

Jeong-won's ex-wife finally finds peace

Jeong-won and his ex-wife finally found their peace. After all she did (spying on her husband and putting them both through a new marriage to find space), Seo-yeon (Jung Yun-ha) considered herself a villain and moved on. Nonetheless, they moved over their trauma and chased a happier life. Seo-yeon is now trying to save her partner-in-crime and last husband Ji-o (Jo Yi-gun) who was responsible for killing Tae-seong. She has hired the best lawyer and is doing everything so that they all can go back to leading a life they deserved since the very beginning. With that, The Trunk came to a beautiful wrap.
