The Smile Man represents the 150th film for Sarath Kumar. In addition to Sarath Kumar, the cast includes Sri Kumar, Sijaa Rose, Ineya, George Maryan, Rajkumar, Kalaiyarasan, Kumar Natarajan, and Baby Azhiya. The technical team features music composed by Gavaskar Avinash, with the story written by Kamala Alchemis. The cinematography is managed by Vikram Mohan, while the editing is overseen by San Lokesh.

The crime thriller centres on an experienced police officer grappling with Alzheimer’s disease. Concurrently, he embarks on investigating a serial killer who appears to be targeting individuals and executing them in a consistent manner.
In a conversation, Sarath Kumar shared his insights on portraying a character with Alzheimer’s, stating, “I have personal experience as my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I have witnessed the days when she recognizes me and the days when she does not. There are moments when she inquires about my identity, which is both heartbreaking and challenging. While the film may amplify certain aspects, we have incorporated elements of suspense to enhance the quality of the performance.”
Upon its release, the film received a range of reviews. It joins a series of crime thrillers that have emerged in Tamil cinema recently.
