After Kangana Ranaut's Emergency, veteran actor Anupam Kher is back with another powerful film—The Signature. The film will directly debut on the OTT platform next month, in October. The Hindi drama is said to be adapted from actor Vikram Gokhale's Marathi film—Anumati (2013). Kher will be seen portraying the lead role, which was played by Gokhale in the Marathi film. For the unversed, The Signature is the 525th film in the 69-year-old actor’s career. Hence, it can be expected to be one of the most crucial films of Kher’s four decades of career span.

When, where to watch The Signature

Anupam Kher’s The Signature is ready to make its OTT debut on October 4, 2024, only on ZEE5. The interesting part is you can also watch the film through OTTplay Premium. Apart from Anupam Kher, the Hindi drama also stars Mahima Chaudhary, Ranvir Shorey, Annu Kapoor, Sneha Paul, Manoj Joshi, and Neena Kulkarni in pivotal roles. 

The Signature plot details

Although the official synopsis remains shrouded, the trailer of The Signature revealed that it's a story about a man named Arvind (Anupam Kher), a man of modest means, who faces a heartbreaking crisis when his wife collapses at the airport, just before their long-awaited international trip. Desperate to save her, Arvind exhausts all his resources, only to be met with indifference from his own children.

However, when his children refuse to help him financially or sell their property, Arvind is forced to turn to his friends and acquaintances for support. The decision to sign and give consent for a DNR (Do-Not-Resuscitate) for his wife becomes a gut-wrenching moral dilemma, adding to his emotional turmoil. As the situation worsens, Arvind is faced with a heartbreaking choice.

During an interview, lead actor Anupam Kher has promised that The Signature film will resonate among all kinds of the audiences, as it will reflect the lives of common people. While talking about his character, Kher shared, “The evolution of the couple’s relationship from partners to friendship is what makes the character Arvind unique. I aim to reflect the essence of common man in my performance.”
