Rajeev Khandelwal is poised to captivate viewers with his forthcoming adventure series, The Secrets of the Shiledars. On Monday, Disney+ Hotstar unveiled a compelling trailer for the series, prompting fans to refer to it as a "desi Indiana Jones."

Disney+ Hotstar shared the trailer on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "A secret concealed within the annals of history has the potential to alter everything... All episodes of #HotstarSpecials #TheSecretOfTheShiledars will be available for streaming starting January 31."

The trailer commences with Rajeev Khandelwal discovering the Shiledars, the soldiers tasked with safeguarding the treasure of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He subsequently initiates a quest with his team, including Sai Tamhankar, to locate the concealed treasure. Throughout this journey, he confronts adversaries who assert their claim to the treasure and delves deeper into the history of the Marathas.

Viewers on the internet swiftly noted similarities to Indiana Jones and the Hollywood film National Treasure. One user commented, "I felt Indiana Jones vibes as soon as 'khazana' was mentioned." Another remarked, "It seems inspired by Nicolas Cage's National Treasure." A further comment questioned, "Is this a desi version of Indiana Jones?" Additional remarks included, "It resembles a blend of Indiana Jones and Nicolas Cage's National Treasure."

Aditya Sarpotdar directed The Secrets of the Shiledars, which features Sai Tamhankar, Gaurav Amlani, and Ashish Vid in prominent roles. The series, adapted from the book Pratipashchandra, will premiere on OTT platforms on January 31.

Aditya expressed his thoughts on the show by stating, "Throughout my childhood, I have always been captivated by tales of adventure and history; they have consistently sparked my curiosity. This fascination ultimately led to the creation of The Secret of the Shiledars. The idea of 'Shiledars,' or Guardians, is a concept that has not been previously explored, rendering it both intriguing and rewarding." He continued, "I consider The Secret of the Shiledars to be a project that has challenged me and compelled me to step beyond my comfort zone. I am truly grateful to have embarked on this journey alongside Rajeev Khandelwal, who has wholeheartedly dedicated himself to this endeavour, and I am confident that this dedication will be evident on screen."
