The dystopian series inspired by Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel, The Handmaid’s Tale, is preparing for its sixth and concluding season after five successful seasons. Premiering in 2017, this series, developed by Bruce Miller, will present its final batch of 10 episodes later this month. Viewers in India can access the show on Amazon Prime Video, and the release date for the final season has been announced. All episodes of this concluding season will be available starting April 8.

The narrative of The Handmaid’s Tale unfolds in a dystopian setting that emerges after a Second American Civil War, where a theocratic and totalitarian regime enslaves fertile women for the purpose of childbearing. In this society, women are stripped of their rights to own property, pursue careers, possess money, and engage in reading and writing.

The cast of the series features Elisabeth Moss in the role of June Osborne, who is compelled to serve as a handmaid, alongside Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, Max Minghella, Sam Jaeger, Josh Charles, Samira Wiley, Amanda Brugel, and others. As stated in an official announcement from the streaming service, in the concluding season, June Osborne finds herself once again entangled in the resistance movement aimed at dismantling Gilead.

The sixth and final season arrives over two years after the fifth, continuing the story with June and Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) on a refugee train bound for Alaska or Hawaii. This series is produced by MGM Television. The executive production team for Season Six includes Bruce Miller, Warren Littlefield, Eric Tuchman, Yahlin Chang, Elisabeth Moss, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Steve Stark, Kim Todd, Daniel Wilson, and Fran Sears. Notably, this series made history in 2017 as the first streaming series to win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series and is distributed internationally by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution.
