A comedy about an immigrant Indian family chasing the American dream -The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, based on the real-life experiences of show creator Vijal Patel, is set to release shortly. The 8-part series, featuring Naveen Andrews (of Lost and The Dropout fame), Sindhu Vee (Starstruck), Sahana Srinivasan (Grown-ish), Arjun Sriram (Sydney to the Max), Ashwin Shaktivel (Smeds and Smoos), Meghan Hilty (Smash), Ethan Suplee (Babylon), Pete Holmes (Crashing), Nicholas Hamilton (Time) and Romy Rosemunt (A Million Little Things), among others.

The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, which was first announced in January 2023, when it was given a series order, will have 8 half-hour-long episodes, exploring the life of the Pradeep family, after they move to the US. A trailer for the show was released recently, along with a streaming date; The Pradeep’s of Pittsburgh will stream from October 17 on Amazon Prime Video.

In the trailer, the Pradeep family, led by Mahesh Pradeep (Andrews), the dreamer, his wife Sudha (Vee), the realist, daughter Bhanu (Sahana), the romantic, and sons Kamal (Arjun), the favourite, Vinod (Ashwin), the optimist, appear to be interrogated about certain circumstances in their new life in the USA.

According to an official note, the show is told in hilarious, and often conflicting, flashbacks of accounts narrated by the various members of the Pradeep family. The show examines the cultural shocks that the first-generation immigrant family faces in their first few months in a new country, especially after their interactions with their neighbours.

Vijal, the Emmy-nominated creator, whose previous works include black-ish and The Middle, has been quoted as saying that the show comes from a very personal place, and explores the many facets of the immigrant struggle, with the pain getting funnier over time.
