The Penguin Episode 6 Highlights: Oz’s bliss(ful) kingdom is in danger yet again

In a world where superhero films are struggling to find their hook and stay afloat, The Batman Epic Crime Saga is thriving in the corner of DC Elseworlds. While we await The Batman Part II, we've already heard plenty about it. But what’s also heightening our excitement is the latest spin-off show from the first movie, The Penguin. Starring Colin Farrell in the lead role, the show has become one of the most loved and raved-about series in recent times. Over the past six weeks, it has managed to keep the audience on the edge of their seats, consistently delivering one thrilling episode after another, each raising the stakes higher. Episode six arrived with a massive surprise for everyone, with every single sequence packed with intensity.

To put it simply, the game set up in the first five episodes of The Penguin has been completely upended, and the ones who were once the most powerful are now scrambling, trying to eliminate the strong one they once considered a disposable "rat." Now, Oz is the strongest contender, and Sofia Falcone (Gigante) knows she can’t defeat him alone—even as she sits at the top of the hierarchy. The battle is now two against one, and there’s so much drama ready to unfold in the next two episodes, which will mark the penultimate and final episodes of the season.

The Penguin Episode 6 Highlights

Oz’s Bliss(ful) Universe in Danger Again

Yes, Oz may be the strongest contender right now, but that status could be short-lived. Currently, the Penguin is situated in the more desolate parts of Gotham, far from the elite world where he’s been trying to climb the ranks. He’s established a hub for his drug business, which he seized from Sofia and the Maronis. Remember Bliss? Well, Bliss is now under Oz’s control, and he’s even found a place to grow his operations further. But this doesn’t mean he’s safe. Sofia knows he’s in Crown Point, Salvatore is alive, and this alliance heightens the risks significantly, as they’re both intent not only on reclaiming the business but on killing Oz as well.

Will Oz Kill Francis?

One of the most intriguing dynamics in The Penguin is that between Oz and his mother, Francis. She suffers from dementia, frequently forgetting things and only being brought back to the present by others. If there’s one person with whom Oz shares a vulnerable relationship without expecting anything in return, it’s Francis. However, episode six delivers a shocking scene where Oz rescues his mother from a dangerous situation and confesses that he may have to “put an end” to her as her condition deteriorates day by day. Is he serious? Can he do it? What exactly is happening?

Victor Kills Squid

Episode six was, in essence, about characters either wanting to kill someone or actually doing it, with added drama in between. Victor’s entire character arc has been marked by the sentiment that “he shouldn’t be here.” But that’s the catch, as he’s being drawn deeper and deeper into the elite’s corruption with each episode. Now, he’s even killed someone. The regret and guilt on his face at that moment, followed by the resignation that this is his life now, is an entire journey in itself.

Will Sofia Kill Victor and Francis?

In the past two episodes, Sofia Gigante has been a wild force that only Oz has managed to evade successfully. By episode four, we know she isn’t the Hangman, but that doesn’t mean she won’t kill. She wiped out her entire family just to eliminate any potential competition. Now, in episode six, when she finds Oz’s hiding spot and arrives at the doorstep, watching Francis and Victor dancing, what will she do? Will she pull the trigger? Watch the next episode to find out.
