Divyanka Tripathi and Jaaved Jaaferi starrer The Magic of Shiri finally was released on November 14 on JioCinema. You can also watch it with your OTTPlay Premium subscription. The 10-episodic series follows the journey of Shiri (Divyanka Tripathi) who faces a lot of difficulties to continue her magic passion with the help of Salim (Jaaved Jaaferi). Hours after the release, the makers shared a new promo of the show.

The Magic of Shiri new video

On November 15, JioCinema shared a new promo of The Magic of Shiri on their Instagram account. The clip shows Jaaved Jaaferi as Salim, a seasoned magician doing magic tricks in front of a large audience and mesmerizing them with his talent. Next, we can see, after some years, Divyanka Tripathi as Shiri learning magic tricks from him. With the help of Salim, Shiri becomes an expert in doing magic tricks.

The Magic of Shiri plot

Set in the early 2000s, The Magic of Shiri tells the story of Shiri Shah, a happy housewife who is not confined to the kitchen and domestic duties. Shiri has a passion for magic, which she performs for her children using self-taught techniques.

The story takes an interesting turn when Shiri gets an opportunity to learn magic professionally and perform in front of an audience. Then we get introduced to the magician, Salim, a seasoned magician who becomes Shiri's mentor. 

During the process, Shiri overcomes a lot both in her personal and professional life to achieve her mgaic dream. The series has a women-centric narrative focusing on self-discovery, breaking gender bias, and women's empowerment. 

Recently, in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya revealed she was criticized by people for fulfilling her dream in real life too. She said, "Similarly, for me, I had no film or television background. So, just to think that I could come and shift base to Mumbai, was a difficult decision for my family as well. There were a lot of people around to criticize. Jo keh rahe the ki aap bohot galat decision le rahe ho bachhi ko aise shehar bhej kar."

Directed by Birsa Dasgupta, the cast of the series also stars Namit Das, Parmeet Sethi, Pitabhash Tripathi, Neelu Kohli, Darshan Zareewala, and others in pivotal roles. The series is backed by Jio Studios and Tanveer Bookwala.
