Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming film, Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly awaited Malayalam films of the year. Recent reports indicate that the production team intends to re-release the 2019 film, Lucifer in theaters prior to the grand premiere of L2 Empuraan on March 27, 2025. Lucifer will be re-released on March 20, 2025.  

The blockbuster film that marked Prithviraj's directorial debut is set to hit theaters on March 20, 2025, according to various reports from Malayalam media. This date is particularly noteworthy as the re-release of the 2019 film occurs exactly one week before the global launch of Empuraan. The announcement was made on social media by Aashirvad Cinemas, led by Antony Perumbavoor, who is supporting the film.

The upcoming re-release presents an opportunity for devoted fans of Lucifer to once again accompany Stephen Nedumpally on his journey. During the teaser launch for L2 Empuraan, producer Antony Perumbavoor expressed his intention to reintroduce Lucifer in theaters prior to the release of Empuraan.

The narrative of Lucifer and its connection to Empuraan

Lucifer follows the aftermath of Chief Minister PK Ramdas's death and the ensuing political power struggle within the state. Mohanlal plays the lead role of Stephen, a loyal supporter of PK Ramdas and his family. After overcoming those who threatened the safety of PK Ramdas's family and political party, Stephen reveals his true identity as Khureshi-Ab'raam.

Empuraun, the second chapter in the Lucifer film series, is anticipated to delve into the story of Khureshi-Ab'raam. The promotional materials released so far depict Mohanlal in dark attire, contrasting sharply with Stephen's consistent choice of white clothing. Fans are likely to be eager to learn how Stephen transitioned into the persona of Khureshi-Ab'raam.
