We finally know the streaming date for Lionsgate Play's upcoming premiere of The Iron Claw. The 2023 biographical sports drama will be dropping on June 24, 2024, on the OTT platform (also on OTTplay Premium). Sean Durkin's directorial follows the "cursed" Von Erich family of professional wrestlers as they endure a string of unfortunate events. The Iron Claw features Jeremy Allen White, Lily James, Maura Tierney, Stanley Simons, Holt McCallany, and Zac Efron in the role of Kevin Von Erich. The "iron claw," a characteristic manoeuvre of the Von Erichs in the ring, inspired the title.

Tragic journey of the Von Erich family

From 1979 until the early 1990s, the film follows the tragic journey of Fritz Von Erich's sons as they try to live up to the dreams their father had for them as wrestling company owners. In the film, the legendary Von Erich brothers, a brotherly wrestling duo that became famous in the 1980s, live out their true story. As they strive for greater-than-life immortality on the greatest stage in athletics, the brothers face both glory and tragedy, all under the shadow of their controlling father and coach.

Critics praised Zac Efron's performance, calling it the greatest of his career, and the film earned over $45 million off a budget of $15.9 million. The National Board of Review selected it as one of the top ten films of 2023.

The character is considerably different from Efron's previous work, which will undoubtedly keep audiences interested, while White's star power is rising thanks to his appearance in the critically acclaimed FX series The Bear, which returns for its third season next month.
