The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes plot summary
Witness the events of The Hunger Games, sixty-four years before Katniss Everdeen's voluntary tribute service and decades before Coriolanus Snow's rise to the position of despot in Panem. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes stars Tom Blyth as a young Coriolanus, the lone remaining member of the once-proud Snow family, who had fallen from prominence in the Capitol after the conflict. Due to financial concerns, Snow is grudgingly tasked with mentoring Lucy Grey Baird, a girl from the destitute District 12, played by Rachel Zegler. However, Snow spots a chance to change their destinies after Lucy Gray's charisma enchants the Panem crowd. All of Snow's hard work is on the line, so he teams up with Lucy Grey to change the odds in their favour. In a desperate struggle between his better and worse impulses, Snow embarks on a race against the clock to find out whether he will turn into a snake or a songbird.
Premiering in Berlin on November 5, 2023, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes hit theatres in the US on November 17, 2023. The film received mixed reviews, with some praising the actors and plot and others criticising the direction and editing.
