The Greatest Of All Time, the Thalapathy Vijay starrer is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on September 5, 2024. The GOAT marks the actor’s first collaboration with director Venkat Prabhu. Recently, the upcoming action thriller made headlines with the reports on its massive runtime. The project is set to emerge as the second lengthiest film in the career of its leading man, Thalapathy Vijay. In a recent interaction with the media, director Venkat Prabhu revealed why this duration is important for the film.

Venkat Prabhu about The GOAT’s runtime

In his recent interview with Cineulagam, Venkat Prabhu extensively spoke about the making of The Greatest Of All Time. The filmmaker, who is highly confident about the project, stated that the Thalapathy Vijay starrer is a fast-paced action film, which will keep the audiences engaged. However, the writer-director admitted that the team was initially apprehensive about the runtime of the film, which exceeds three hours. However, Venkat Prabhu insisted that it is needed to effectively narrate The GOAT’s story.

According to the filmmaker, projects like The Greatest Of All Time demand a longer duration, as it is impossible to fit such an elaborate story into a limited runtime. Venkat Prabhu assured that The GOAT will be a fast-paced watch that will keep the audience engaged, despite having a runtime of over three hours. He further added that leading man Thalapathy Vijay, his directorial team, and the producers are happy with how the film turned out to be, and are convinced that this runtime is perfect for the narration.

The Greatest Of All Time: Censor details and runtime

For the uninitiated, the Thalapathy Vijay starrer has been censored successfully, and bagged a U/A certificate from the censor board. Later, The Greatest Of All Time went for its censor formalities once again, after the team decided to add a 3-minute-long blooper videos, to the post-credits' portions. Thus, the Venkat Prabhu directorial, which initially had a runtime of three hours, now has final duration of 3 hours and 3 minutes.
