Vijay is all set to star in the upcoming Tamil film The GOAT- Greatest of All Time. The film marks the actor's 68th outing and will feature him in de-aged looks as well. Here is everything you need to know about the Vijay-starrer.

Release date

The GOAT is all set to release on September 5. In all probabilities and just a few weeks before the release, the Vijay-starrer will be the only film in the south to release for that weekend, thereby avoiding any clashes.

Plot

Venkat Prabhu, the director of the film, revealed the plot of The GOAT. Confirming that the film’s story is entirely fictional, Venkat Prabhu said that they have tried to make it close to reality and that it revolves around an anti-terrorist squad called SATS, that works in conjunction with the RAW agency. The GOAT is about how former members of SATS, known for their excellence, will come back to tackle a challenge.

Trailer

The trailer of The GOAT was released a few days back to positive reception. It had all the whacky elements one would expect from a Venkat Prabhu film and fan moments to celebrate Vijay. The director had planted a Mankatha reference which starred Ajith Kumar, in The GOAT trailer. At the same time, the trailer also ends with Vijay taking us back to the Ghilli days with a very specific portion. In the trailer, one could see Mohan playing the antagonist, while Vijay plays the role of hero named Gandhi. There are also two de-aged looks of Vijay. With the trailer being action-packed, and plenty of commercial moments, one has to wait and see how all of these would come together.

Cast

Venkat Prabhu has managed to bring in stars who ruled the 90s, to feature in The GOAT. Apart from Vijay, the film also stars Prabhudheva, Mohan, Prashanth, Laila, and Sneha. The film also features usual suspects of Venkat Prabhu film like Vaibhav and Premgi. Actors Yogi Babu, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ajmal Amir, Parvati Nair, Jayaram Yugendran Vasudevan and Akilan.

Crew

Venkat Prabhu has written and directed The GOAT, marking his first collaboration with Vijay. The film is bankrolled by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh, and Kalpathi S Suresh under the banner AGS Entertainment (P) Ltd. The music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with Siddhartha Nuni cranking the camera. Venkat Raajen is the editor of the film. Venkat Prabhu has penned the dialogues along with Viji.

OTT partner

Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the Vijay film. The GOAT’s official OTT release date is not mentioned so far. However, it is safe to assume that the film will be made available on the platform about four weeks after the theatrical release.
