Nonetheless, it encounters strong competition from Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which remains popular and continues to attract audiences.
The box office game

About The Diplomat
Directed by Shivam Nair, known for his work on Naam Shabana, the film features John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb in prominent roles. It is inspired by the true story of Uzma Ahmad, an Indian national who was repatriated to India in 2017 after reportedly being deceived by a Pakistani man. She disclosed that she was coerced into marriage at gunpoint and subjected to abuse during her visit to his country.
The narrative highlights the endeavors of senior diplomat JP Singh, who is currently serving as the ambassador to Israel, in his mission to rescue the Indian woman who was enticed to Pakistan in 2017 by a man who promised her marriage. John Abraham portrays Singh in the film.
As noted in reviews by Hindustan Times, “The Diplomat had the potential to be an exceptional thriller, possessing all the essential elements. However, its execution prevents it from achieving excellence, earning a rating of 3.5 stars for its effort.”
The review further states, “Despite this, it is a compelling project that successfully addresses the common issue of a film's pacing slowing down in the second half. The Diplomat is crafted like a thrilling game where the protagonist must navigate through car chases and intense situations. The resolution of how Uzma ultimately crosses the India-Pakistan border to return home is presented in a gratifying manner.”
