There is no doubt that The Crown on Netflix is one of the most nuanced dramas about the Monarchs of Britain ever made. The show, which debuted in 2016, quickly became a fan favorite, with many A-listers voicing their love for it. In India, we saw how obsessed both Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan were with the show. Starring three stellar actors as Queen Elizabeth II—Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Imelda Staunton—the show ran for six seasons on the streaming giant before wrapping up its run in the sixth season. While fans have been eager to know whether there is a future for the show, it turns out there may be, as series producer Andy Harries has teased possible spin-offs from the world of the show.

Are The Crown Spin-Offs Possible?

For the uninitiated, The Crown followed the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the members of the royal family, including Princess Diana, played by Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki. The show was set from the time before Elizabeth’s wedding to Philip Mountbatten up to 2005 when Prince Charles (now King) married Camilla Parker Bowles. It turns out there is much more for the makers to explore, and they are planning to do so, according to Andy Harries’ statement. Read on to learn everything you need to know.

As per Comicbook, Andy Harries has now spoken about possible spin-offs and how they will return to the material to bring out more stories from the same world. “I can assure you [that deal] feels very, very good, and it gives us the opportunity to think about what we can do further with The Crown at some point," Harries said. "It's obviously an endless subject. We could go back, or we could go on. We did six seasons, a very defined period of six decades. There's plenty of potential, which at some point, I suspect we'll return to.”

Even Peter Morgan Had Hinted at a Future

Creator Peter Morgan has been riding high on acclaim for creating such an expansive and well-crafted show. The creator had also spoken about the idea of returning to The Crown after the show ended with season six. He was clear that it would need to be equally exciting for him to come back. But before that, he wants to work on something else. However, he also mentioned that he would delve into the history of the royals if he returned again.

"I do have an idea," Morgan said last fall. "But first, I need to do some other things. Second, it would need to be a unique set of circumstances to come together… If I were to go back into The Crown, it would definitely be to go back in time."

The six seasons of The Crown are streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Mobile Masala for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
