Indraneil Sengupta plays a key character in Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pilgaonkar-led The Broken News. He appears in both seasons. In a recent chat with OTTplay, Indraneil talked about how he is in awe of Jaydeep.

In The Broken News, Jaideep and Indraneil barely share a screen. While Jaideep plays Deepankar Sanyal – the celebrity news anchor of Josh24/7, Indraneil plays Pankaj – a senior news producer of Awaz Bharti and Sonali Bendre’s love interest. Recently, they met at the special screening of the show. Recalling their meeting, Indraneil said, “I felt that he is an actor from a different planet and we all are from another planet. This is my honest opinion about him. I came out and told him, ‘Jaideep, you are so good. As an actor, you are so evolved that you belong to a different league.’”

Indraneil further said that Jaideep Ahlawat talked to him respectfully because the latter was younger. Indraneil said that he noticed the small things Jaideep does while playing a character. “As a professional actor, when I notice things that he does – small minute gestures like raising the eyebrows or twitching his lips – I get astonished. In The Broken News Season 2, he came up with those gestures. That’s not a director’s job. That’s an actor’s job,” he said.

Jaideep and Indraneil first met while shooting Bloody Brothers, where the latter plays a small character. It also has Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub. “There was one scene in the shoot where I sat on a table, and he came and talked to me. He talked and I listened. I was in awe of him. In the shoot, I was just listening to him talking. I looked at him and his eyes were so intense,” he remembered. Indraneil further elaborated on how they engaged in banter. “You know I love clicking photographs and I took some of his photographs during that shoot,” he said.
