Mohanlal is ready to wow fans with his much-awaited movie Thudarum, where he'll be starring alongside Shobana. Interestingly, director Tharun Moorthy mentioned in a chat with Red FM that he initially approached Jyotika for the role before Shobana, but she wasn't able to join the project.
The reason Jyotika said no to Thudarum
Tharun remembered that Shobana was always their top pick for the film, but they weren't sure how to reach her. So, before they made a move, they thought about pairing Mohanlal with Jyotika instead. He mentioned, "When I told (scriptwriter) Sunil that Shobana madam was the best choice, he asked how we would get in touch with her. That's when we considered a new pairing with Jyotika."
He also shared that he pitched the script to Jyotika, who was really enthusiastic. However, when it came time to shoot, Jyotika and Suriya were off on a world tour, so they decided to reach out to Shobana madam instead. For those who don't know, Shobana and Mohanlal are a beloved duo in Malayalam cinema, having last appeared together on screen after two decades. They've starred in several films together, such as Avidathepole Ivideyum, Thenmavin Kombath, Minnaram, Pavithram, and Mambazhakkalam, among others..
