1200x675 (Original: 1200x675) Thangalaan, the period action-drama film marks the first onscreen collaboration of Chiyaan Vikram and director Pa Ranjith. The movie, which was delayed multiple times due to various technical reasons, is finally set to hit theatres across the globe on August 15, 2024, as an Independence Day special release. Chiyaan Vikram is appearing in a never-seen-before avatar in the highly anticipated film. A social media post, which reveals the Thangalaan plot, is now going viral on social media.

Thangalaan plot: Here's all you need to know

A screenshot taken from an online booking platform, which reveals the intriguing plot of Thangalaan, is now doing rounds on social media platforms. “Thangalaan lives happily with his family, cultivating their land in Veppur village, North-Arcot district. The village’s Zamindar conspires to take Thangalaan’s land and turn his family into bonded labourers. A British man named Clement arrives, seeking experienced miners from Veppur to work in the Kolar Gold Fields.” reveals the viral post.

According to the viral post, To save his family and reclaim his land, Thangalaan agrees to go with Kolaar. The mysthical stories about Naga Cheif Aarathi who safeguards the Kolar region leaves him intrigued. Thangalaan and his clan’s life takes a different turn as they face starvation and deadly accidents at Kolar area, which is planned by the Nagas, lead by Aarathi.

Even though the protagonist tries to bring more labourers from his village Veppur, they start a rebellion against him for putting their lives in danger. Meanwhile, Thangalaan also discovers his naga heritage, which prompts him to join forces with Aarathi and stand up against Clement. Chiyaan Vikram plays Thangalaan in the film, while Parvathy Thiruvothu appears as his wife Gangamma. Malavika Mohanan plays Naga leader Aarathi.

Thangalaan features Daniel Caltagirone as the lead antagonist Clement. Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Sampath Ram, Vettai Muthukumar, Krish Haasan, and others appear in the other pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the songs and original score. Kishor Kumar is the director of photography. Selva RK handles the editing. Thangalaan is jointly produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Studio Green.
