Thangalaan, the recently released Tamil film starring actor Vikram in the lead role, is currently running in theatres. As per reports, the film has collected Rs 12.60 crore (net) in India on the first day of its release from all the languages.

Written and directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is a period action drama headlined by actor Vikram. As per Sacnilk report, the film has collected Rs 12.60 crore (net) in India on its first day of release. The film released in multiple languages across the country. With the film releasing for the Independence Day weekend, the occupancy for the film is expected to get increased in the coming days. The film enjoyed an occupancy of about 70% on Thursday.
Thangalaan is set during the pre-Independence time, and revolves around a group of tribals who are employed by a British officer to find gold in KGF. The film stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan, Daniel Caltagirone, and others. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film is bankrolled by Studio Green, Jio Studios and Neelam Productions.
Thangalaan released in theatres along with two other Tamil films, Keerthy Suresh-starrer Raghu Thatha and Arulnithi’s horror thriller sequel Demonte Colony 2.

The post-theatrical rights of Thangalaan have been bagged by Netflix for a fancy price. The film will be made available on the platform after the theatrical run. An OTT release date is yet to be mentioned.
With music by GV Prakash Kumar, Thangalaan has been shot by Kishore and Selva RK has handled the edits. The film was shot in different locales, including Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Madurai and Karnataka. Thangalaan released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Thangalaan marked Vikram’s first collaboration with Ranjith. The film opened to mixed responses with many hailing the actor’s performance and pointing out technical flaws in the film.
