Only recently, we had reported that actor Vijay’s upcoming film tentatively called Thalapathy 69, has been launched by the makers, with directed H Vinoth at the helm of it. Now, as per the latest buzz, the details on Vijay’s role have been speculated with the actor once again expected to don the khaki uniform.

Vijay, who announced his political career, will be retiring from acting after doing Thalapathy 69. So naturally, all eyes are on the film which will be directed by H Vinoth. Marking his maiden collaboration with the actor, Vinoth and his team conducted a launch ceremony of the film recently.
Thalapathy 69 is bankrolled by KVN Productions. Now as per the latest reports, it is expected that Vijay will be playing a former police officer, with the film addressing an important social issue. It is to be noted that Vijay has earlier donned the khaki uniform in films like Jilla and Theri. It will be interesting to see how Vinoth has written the cop role for Vijay, given his earlier film Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru was also a critically acclaimed police story.
Thalapathy 69 will feature Pooja Hegde as the female lead, marking her second collaboration with Vijay after Beast. Apart from them, the film will also feature Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Gautham Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and others. Anirudh Ravichander will be scoring the music.

Vijay last donned the police uniform in Theri, the 2016 Tamil action thriller directed by Atlee. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium app. Theri also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, Nainika, Radhika Sarathkumar, Rajendran and Mahendran. The film is being remade in Hindi as Baby John featuring Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. The film revolves around a cop who retires to a silent and exile life, and lives with his mother-less daughter. After a certain turn of events, the father has to take up violence to protect his child.
