Thalapathy Vijay, the crowd-puller is teaming up with talented director H Vinoth, for his farewell film. The project, which has been tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, will mark the popular actor’s final outing in cinema before his grand political entry. Thalapathy 69 was officially launched on Saturday, September 14, 2024, with a social media post made by the team members. However, the recent updates suggests that H Vinoth originally approached Thalapathy Vijay for the film, in 2017.

H Vinoth approached Thalapathy Vijay in 2017?

If the recent reports are to be believed, H Vinoth originally approached Thalapathy Vijay with the story idea of their upcoming project, in 2017. Interestingly, the actor-director discussed the idea while the celebrated actor was filming for Mersal, the blockbuster action thriller film directed by Atlee. However, Vijay turned down the offer at that time, as the actor was unable to connect with the subject. Interestingly, H Vinoth later approached Ajith, Vijay Sethupathi, and finally Kamal Haasan, for the same subject.

Thalapathy 69 has a Kamal Haasan connection?

Some unconfirmed reports also suggest that H Vinoth and Kamal Haasan even decided to collaborate for the same subject, which was announced under the temporary title, KH233. The movie, which was touted to be a political thriller, was later shelved due to the creative differences between the actor-director duo. If the reports are to be believed, the filmmaker later reworked on the subject and narrated it to Thalapathy Vijay for the latter’s 69th film. The actor was impressed with the revived idea, and said Yes to the project.
