The 2025 Tamil film Test, featuring prominent actors R Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth in lead roles, is now available for streaming on Netflix. This marks the streaming platform's first Tamil original release of the year. The film is both written and directed by S Sashikanth, known for producing several notable films through his YNOT Studios.

Test is accessible on OTT platforms, allowing viewers to enjoy the drama in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

As a direct-to-OTT release, Netflix has secured the rights to this star-studded emotional sports drama. In the film, Siddharth portrays Arjun, a veteran batsman striving for a comeback, while Nayanthara plays Kumudha, a teacher longing for motherhood. Madhavan takes on the role of Kumudha’s husband, Saravanan, a scientist, and Meera Jasmine plays Padma, Arjun’s wife. It is noteworthy that Test is Netflix's inaugural Tamil original for 2025.

Sashikanth, who has previously directed critically acclaimed films such as Mandela, Vikram Vedha, and Kaaviya Thalaivan, makes his directorial debut with Test. Additionally, popular singer Shakthisree Gopalan makes her debut as a composer for this film. The cast also includes Kaali Venkat, Nassar, and Vinay Varma. The cinematography is handled by Viraj Singh Gohil, while TS Suresh serves as the editor.

What else to watch on Netflix in Tamil?

Netflix is also acquiring post-theatrical streaming rights for several 2025 Tamil films, including Dragon and Vidaamuyarchi. The latest addition is Perusu, an adult comedy-drama set to premiere on the platform on April 11. Furthermore, Netflix has secured the rights to the upcoming Ajith Kumar film Good Bad Ugly, which will be available for streaming following its theatrical release, along with Suriya’s romantic action film Retro and the highly anticipated Thug Life by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan.
