Ponman, an anticipated Malayalam film, represents the directorial debut of production designer Jothish Shankar. The film features Basil Joseph in the leading role, with Aavesham actor Sajin Gopu playing a significant part. Initially scheduled for release on February 6, 2025, Ponman has now been confirmed to premiere in theatres on January 30, 2025, following the withdrawal of Mohanlal’s Thudarum from the competition. Additionally, the teaser for Ponman has recently been released on social media platforms.

Ponman teaser is out

The 1.07-minute teaser for Ponman, starring Basil Joseph and Sajin Gopu in prominent roles, indicates that the film, directed by Jyothi Shankar, is a compelling drama. The teaser suggests that the highly anticipated movie centers on the conflict between the main characters, Ajesh and Mariyan, who each possess their own flaws, as they contend over a significant quantity of gold. It appears that both Basil Joseph and Sajin Gopu will be departing from their usual comedic personas for this project.

Ponman: Cast and Crew

Ponman is said to be inspired by the acclaimed novel Nalanchu Cheruppakar, authored by the distinguished writer GR Indugopan. The screenplay for the film has been crafted by novelist GP Indugopan, in collaboration with Justin Mathew, known for his work on Minnal Murali. Jothish Shankar, a veteran production designer recognized for his contributions to notable Malayalam films such as Kumbalangi Nights and Nna Thaan Case Kodu, is preparing to make his directorial debut with this project featuring Basil Joseph.

In addition to Basil Joseph and Sajin Gopu, known for his role in Aavesham, Ponman includes prominent actors such as Lijomol Jose, Deepak Parambol, and Anand Manmadhan in significant roles. The musical score and songs for the film are composed by Justin Varghese, while Sanu John Varghese serves as the director of photography. The editing is managed by Nidhin Raj Arol. Ponman is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the Ajith Vinayaka Films banner. The official trailer for this highly anticipated film is expected to be released in the coming days.
