Basil Joseph just dropped some exciting news: his movie Ponman is set to hit theaters early on January 30, 2025. Along with this surprise announcement, the official teaser for Ponman has been released, ramping up the buzz around this film. The creators of Ponman dropped a teaser on their official social media on January 20. It kicks off with Basil Joseph’s character warning Sajin Gopu. The tension is palpable as both guys glare at each other with anger.

As the teaser ramps up the tension, we hear Sajin Gopu mention that "he should come to meet him at 3am." He then questions who the thief is, insisting that he earns his living honestly. The action heats up with fights breaking out as new characters, including Lijomol Jose, make their entrance.

More clashes unfold before Basil Joseph delivers a chilling warning: even if he were killed and buried, the culprit better make sure he’s really gone. Otherwise, Basil vows he’ll rise from the grave for his ‘Ponnu’. In Malayalam, Ponnu means gold, and the ‘Pon’ in Ponman might hint at that.

When sharing the teaser link, Basil excitedly posted on social media, “The wait is over! The official teaser of Ponman is here – get ready for a thrilling ride...!!!!”

Basil Joseph takes the lead as Ajesh, with Sajin Gopu playing Mariyano. Lijomol Jose is on board as Stephy, another important character. The cast also includes Deepak Parambol, Anand Manmadhan, Rajesh Sharma, Jaya Kurup, Vyshnavi Kalyani, Lakshmy Sanju, Reju Sivadas, Maju Anchal, and Shylaja P Ambu.

Jothish Shankar is stepping into the director's chair for the first time with Ponman, which is inspired by GR Indugopan's novel Nalanchu Cheruppakar. Indugopan also penned the script for the film, collaborating with Justin Mathew, known for his work on Minnal Murali. Interestingly, Basil directed Minnal Murali, featuring Tovino Thomas

Ponman is getting out early

Ponman was earlier scheduled to release in theatres on February 6, 2025. But in a surprise move, the release date was preponed to January 30, 2025, which was also the release date of Mohanlal-Shobana's Thudarum. Now, speculations are rife that Mohanlal's film, directed by Tharun Moorthy, could be postponed to February. However, the makers of Thudarum have not given any official updates till now.
