With the premiere of Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, other theatrical releases are expected to take a backseat to allow this major film to complete its run. Nevertheless, there are several noteworthy Tamil films available for viewing this week, prior to a wave of new releases set to arrive in theaters next week. Here is a list of those films:

Yamakaathaghi – Aha Tamil (April 14)

Yamakaathaghi is a supernatural mystery thriller that unfolds at a deliberate pace, directed by Peppin George Jayaseelan in his directorial debut. The film features Roopa Koduvayur, Geetha Kailasam, Narendra Prasath, and others in significant roles. The narrative centers around a young woman who tragically takes her own life. As her devastated family prepares for her funeral, her spirit and body linger in their home, leading them to believe she has unresolved matters with her family.

Naangal – Theatres (April 18)

This family drama, directed by newcomer Avinash Prakash, has garnered attention during its festival circuit. It portrays a dysfunctional family with three teenage sons and a domineering, abusive father. The film introduces fresh talent, including Mithun V, Rithik M, and Nithin D as the three sons, while Abdul Rafe and Prarthana S portray the parents. Naangal delves into the lives of the boys as they navigate the oppressive environment created by their father within their expansive estate in Ooty. The film received favorable reviews during its festival showings.

Murmur – Lionsgate Play (April 17)

Murmur, written and directed by Hemnath Narayanan, is a found footage horror film that follows a group of adventurous YouTubers who venture into a cursed forest in search of the elusive "Seven Saptha Kannigal" and a vengeful spirit. However, their expedition takes a terrifying turn as they encounter unforeseen horrors. The cast includes Richie Kapoor, Devaraj Arumugam, and Suganya Shanmugam, among others.
