Mulk 2, directed by Anubhav Sinha, has officially started production. This courtroom drama, which first hit screens in 2018, is making a comeback after over five years, but sadly, Rishi Kapoor won't be returning for this sequel. Mulk 2 has started filming

Taapsee Pannu, known for her role in Naam Shabana, is returning for the sequel to Mulk. This news comes shortly after she teased a collaboration with the director during the five-year anniversary celebrations of Thappad. Similar to the first film, Mulk 2 will explore another social issue. While the specific theme remains under wraps, a source informed Mid-Day that Gaurav Solanki, recognized for his work on Article 15, will be involved in the sequel.

Is there a new actor taking Rishi Kapoor's place?

It's not yet certain whether he will fully take over Rishi Kapoor's role in what might be the spiritual sequel to Mulk, but Chamak star Manoj Pahwa, who also appeared in the first film, is returning for Mulk 2. In the current OTT landscape, Pahwa's character has met a tragic fate, but it suggests a fresh start ahead, potentially involving the Deol family—Dharmendra along with his sons Bobby and Sunny Deol—who could make it a spectacular comeback.

Details on Mulk and Taapsee's new project

Mulk tackled the issue of bigotry experienced by a Muslim family, featuring Taapsee and Rishi as lawyers in the film.

Currently, Taapsee is in discussions for a project titled Gandhari, where she will take on the role of a mother on a mission. Additionally, she has teased the possibility of a sequel to Haseen Dillruba. The first two films included Vikrant Massey as the lead male, with Harshvardhan Rane and Sunny Kaushal as the supporting actors in the first and second films, respectively. If a third film is indeed in the pipeline, it will be intriguing to see who will play the supporting role alongside her character.
